It is becoming trendier to use natural products in daily skin care. Discover in this post how to introduce honey into your beauty routine.
For thousands of years, honey has been a highly valued product. Egyptian, Chinese, Greek and Roman cultures have not only referred to the benefits of this product as a foodstuff, but also in medicinal terms for its antibacterial properties. It was even used as a form of payment in some circumstances.
Modern beauty treatments have retrieved and rediscovered honey’s unique properties. Our mothers and grandmother’s home remedies are taken to another level to bring out the best version of ourselves.
How can I incorporate honey into my beauty routine?
Honey naturally has a gooey texture which is ideal to be the product base of cosmetic products. You can do it at home mixing different products. If the mixture does not turn out homogenous, try heating it slightly. Raising the temperature of the honey will make its texture more liquid and, consequently, everything will mix better.
Exfoliating scrub: If you perform either facial or corporal exfoliations with beauty products, try replacing them with a homemade honey-based scrub. Furthermore, the use of honey for cracked heels is highly recommended. Remember to clean the areas that are to be treated, then apply the mixture in a circular motion with your fingers and remove with warm water.
Facial – Mix 2 tablespoons of honey (mainly Oak honey), 1 tablespoon of turmeric and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Leave on for 10 minutes and do not forget to moisturise your face once the mask is removed.
Body scrub – Mix 1 tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of olive oil and two tablespoons of coarse sea salt. Add an avocado and a banana. And voilá! We have our natural body scrub.
Specially for feet – Mix 1 tablespoon of honey, another tablespoon of rice flour and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.
Mask: This mask is specially indicated for strengthening both hair and nails. For hair care, consider alternating your usual hair mask with a honey-based hair mask. You will notice the difference!
Apply your natural mask on your hair and nails with a small massage, leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash off with cold water if possible.
To make this natural mask, mix a tablespoon of honey, a tablespoon of coconut oil and another tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.
Moisturising Cream: Try alternating your usual moisturiser with the following mixture and you will notice how even the driest skin will feel the difference. To make this moisturizing honey cream add 5 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of essential rose oil and 2 cups of essential rose oil. In this case, there is no need to remove the homemade moisturising cream after use, let it be absorbed by the body.
