At LAPUELA Honey we work responsibly by respecting our environment and our co-workers, the bees. If you want to know a little more about the way we work and how we implement sustainable beekeeping, don’t miss the following lines!
A long time ago, beekeeping emerged as a man-made activity and from which great health benefits could be obtained.
In the Mesolithic era, cave paintings were found in which you could see that honey harvesting was a daily activity. However, over the years this practice has evolved up to our present day, where the product has been given great importance, leaving bee care in the background.
Beekeeping, a driving force of rural environment
For many years, beekeeping has been developed in rural environments, it is an important activity for the economy of towns and villages. Beekeeping is a tradition in Asturias that has been carried out
since time immemorial. In the Western area, “talameiros” and “cortinos” protected the hives and allowed the pursuit of an activity that has grown over the years.
Bees and the environment
At LAPUELA Honey, we develop beekeeping that is committed to the environment that surrounds us. Our bees carry out their activity in natural settings that we help to preserve and improve, thus giving them the best habitat possible. All our beehives are located in the Southwest of Asturias, in one of the most depopulated areas of Europe, such as Fuentes del Narcea natural park or Muniellos Forest. These areas are full of native vegetation and wild fauna.
Therefore, our company’s philosophy is not only based on providing direct care for the bees, hives and their surroundings, at LAPUELA Honey we are committed to the entire rural environment and the sustainable economic development of the area. We protect our bees and the biodiversity that surrounds them, attempting to minimise our energy consumption. We do this, among other things, by reducing our carbon footprint thanks to the proximity of the hives to our facilities.
Additionally, we are very committed to the rural environment, creating jobs to bring new life to our towns and maintain the wealth in them.
100% natural honey
All our honey is produced by bees that are cared for, protected and surrounded by unique vegetation. This gives our honey its unique character, 100% natural honey, raw honey, which is not subjected to any further processing.
Due to our natural environment, our bees can produce different types of honey, such as Oak honey, Calluna honey or Eucalyptus honey, among others. Our honey is marked with an Asturian stamp and distinguished by a sustainable working method, which is also committed to nature.
