Wax is a fascinating product made by bees and of paramount importance to them. It is a material they secret voluntarily through 8 groups of glands...
Wax
Young honey bees generate wax to build the hexagonal alveoli of the combs. To make 1kg of wax they need to consume between 4 and 12kg of honey.
The nature of wax contributes to the purified environment that honey, pollen and bee broods need to develop in.
We obtain wax from the melting of the caps, which are removed from the honey combs that we harvest, and also from the renewal of old or broken combs from the hives.
WAX LAMINATION
In LAPUELA Honey we have an annual renovation plan for a significant portion of our honeycombs. We remove the “old” wax from the combs and replace them with sheets of new pre-printed wax cells.
The wax lamination process is a service we offer beekeepers and other professionals.
WHAT IS BEESWAX USED FOR?
Wax is a very versatile product that is used in many different professional sectors. In medicine and cosmetics, for instance, it is used for waxing, ointment manufacturing and even lipstick, among other things.
